Today was an early dismissal at 12:10 for parent teacher conferences this afternoon. Our day started out in the computer lab typing up our personal narratives and practicing our spelling words. The time in our classroom continued after IC Skills with math workshop. We practiced estimating sums and differences by rounding, continuing our math lesson from Wednesday. Next we did our spelling test. Each word this week had 'or' within it. We also got a glimpse at our story for next week in the form of a video made by Miss Staudt and Ms. Beatty (Mr. Feight did the filming). Check it out: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-nzJsd0i8Nw The day ended with a kickoff of our new at-home reading challenge. Miss Staudt introduced us to our new class pets, three small donkeys. We got to name them (Chip, Chip 2, and Holla). Chip 2 and Holla will be going on lots of adventures to each student's home over the next few months to make sure everyone is reading at home. Chip will stay in our room and hang out with us :)

Red Ribbon Week! This week the Student Leaders do the special announcements for it. Some of this week's themese are: wearing hats to "Shade Out Drugs," wear red. Those are just 2 of them though. There's one for each day of the week except Monday. This morning we had P.E. We did line tag and hockey. Something else we're doing today is social studies. We just had our North-East region test, so I wonder if we'll keep working on it or start a new region? I'll have to wait and find out!

Another week has passed. Here's what we were up to!
We practiced our citizenship skills and voted for two student leaders to represent our classroom! |
Another fun way to practice our math facts! In this one we see who can slap the answer fastest! |
Here we were doing some reviewing before our math test. We love to use maninipulatives as tools when we are solving math problems! |
This shelf has books that we have borrowed from the AEA and it is an incredibly popular source of great reads! We seem to have a class hooked on graphic novels! |
We did some matching to review our states and capitals of the Northeast Region. This pair was really thinking when they pulled out the map to help them out! |
Sometimes we are all so buried in our books that Miss Staudt doesn't even want to interrupt us to start the next lesson! |
And sometimes we just need to rest a moment (or just pose for a picture before heading back to our seats!) Such a funny group! |
Meet our new student leaders! We are so excited to have them represent our class! |
Our classroom library is a frequently visited place, and Miss Staudt LOVES when she catches students exploring new genres! |
