Today we had music and PE and we did social studies on landforms. We did lesson 1-3 in Math and we learned a word called Commutative when we talked about the Commutative Property of Multiplication. During read aloud Miss Staudt shared the book Word After Word After Word by Patricia Maclachlan.

(Great first post, Claudio! I am so excited to have the students taking over the blogging each day!)
Learning Targets (I will also share the learning targets we have worked on each day so students or parents have a record of what we have covered and parents may check here to ask a more specific question than "What did you learn today?" - you'll really know what they learned if you ask about one of these targets and don't get a response!)
Reading - I can identify story elements when reading.
Writing - I can respond to a given prompt.
Math - I can use multiplication properties.
Social Studies - I can recognize and name landforms.

We had IC Checkout and spent time in the computer lab. A lot of us got smart beads today for our excellent participation and smart answers! We took two math tests - a division test and a test on the computer. We met our token goal and had game time this afternoon! We did a lot of reading and learned about teamwork by making puzzles.

We took a math test in the computer lab this morning. We had music and learned notes before taking a pre-test. We practiced reading to self multiple times - people are already finishing books! We have our second model citizen too! Our class is really showing safe, respectful, and responsible behavior! We also learned a new reading strategy to help with our accuracy. It was called cross checking.

We ended the day making tshirts to tell about ourselves and have ready to hang in the hallway on back to school night. Earlier in the day we had PE and played high-five tag and soccer - Skylar's tooth fell out! We also had an assembly to get the year started right. In math we did a multiplication test watched a video. We read a book called How I Became a Pirate written by Melinda Long and illustrated by David Shannon. Today we also had our first smart bead recipients!

We had two specials again! We had IC Skills and Art. In art we made fish and in IC Skills we learned where our chairs were and learned that OWL means Outstanding Wise Learners - that's what we are! We took a subtraction timed test and a pre-test in math. We also got our very own writing journals today and spent some time writing in them. Ms. Beatty taught us that there is more than 1 way to read a book. We can read the words, read the pictures, or retell the story!
