We did a pictograph and took a pictograph test.  We played volleyball in PE.  We took a spelling test.  We watched movies for social studies.  We wrote our 'Line of my Life' stories then at the fall party we made paper pumpkins, unscrambled Halloween costumes, and played dodgeball in the pumpkin patch.

Today we took a math test, did a graph, and a tally table.  We hadmusic, art, reading buddies, and social studies.  This afternoon we worked on our drug free posters.

Today we practiced equations in math, learned a new spelling game, and had social skills with Mrs. Davison.  We started reading our new story and are working on taking notes while we read.  Tomorrow we can wear sunglasses or boots.

This week is Red Ribbon Week, so the students will be doing fun things each day.  We have dress-up days planned and a poster contest that our very own student leaders will be judging!

Today the students enjoyed watching some YouTube clips of baby orangutans in preparation for our story this week titled How to Babysit an Orangutan.  They have lots of questions they hope to have answered as we read the story!

Today we had our WINGS (We're Into Noticing Great Students) Kickoff in the gym, took our spelling, vocabulary, and comprehension tests, and had music.  In the afternoon, Mrs. Despenas came to teach us another guidance lesson.

Miss Staudt was gone to the Iowa Council for the Social Studies Conference today.  We did a math test, had reading buddies, and continued our social studies project.  In the afternoon we had art, reading, writing, and did some math problem solving.

We started a new project in social studies, had birthday treats for Maddie and going away treats for Serenity.  We worked on our poems and spent time in the computer lab.  At the end of the day our student leaders were announced: Tyler, Evie, and Amber (Miss Staudt is so proud of all of the students who went through the process of running for this position and excited to work with these new student leaders!)!

We switched classrooms for math so we could work with Mrs. Long's students on an estimation problem.  After PE we had a spelling bee - Serenity was the winner!  We spent the afternoon talking about our story and practicing picking out facts and opinions.

What a fun day!  As a class we walked 50.5 kilometers on the track as part of Governor Branstad's "Start Somewhere" Walk!  We had fun walking and figuring out that in 20 minutes we walked the distance from Mason City to Clear Lake 3 times!

This afternoon we spent some time free reading, made a plan of what we would take in our covered wagon if we were back on the prairie, and made our own butter, just like pioneers!

We worked in groups to practice estimating by rounding in math.  After lunch we took our test for our story.  Then we wrote couplets (two lines of poetry that rhyme - Miss Staudt had fun reading the couplets!).

We started the morning writing a poem.  Then we had a presentation about the tallgrass prairie - it was fun to see the animals!  In the afternoon we had Ms. K for a sub while Miss Staudt was at meetings.  She read to us and played a game to review our story for the week.

We started the morning with math and then had PE.  We helped Miss Staudt label new books for the classroom library by deciding which genre they were.  We spent a lot of time reading this afternoon and used puppets to retell our story before looking at some math problem solving strategies.

Monday was a Day D so we were out of the classroom a lot for different specials.  We checked out new books from the IC, spent some time in the computer lab, visited Mrs. Long for science, had Mrs. Zanios visit for our special reading lesson, and then had PE!  Whew!

Friday slipped by without me getting a chance to post!  We had the chance to retake our social studies tests with a group to help us increase our kind of low scores - it was a hard test!  We did our vocabulary and spelling tests and got to work on our projects in art!
